Amber Alert suspect arrested

SALT LAKE CITY -- The woman accused of stealing a car with a 3-year-old inside was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Salt Lake City.

Melissa Irish, 20, was arrested without incident just after 3 p.m. at 1020 Denver St. in Salt Lake City.

The Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office says Irish stole a car with 3-year-old Hector Orozco inside around 6:45 p.m. on Friday, March 3, which resulted in an Amber Alert.

Shortly after the Amber Alert went out, the vehicle and an unharmed Hector were located on Patricia Circle in Magna.

Irish has a significant history with the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office. Lt. Don Hutson says her most recent arrest was just two weeks ago. Then, she was arrested on obstruction of justice charges, but other arrest have involved drug charges.

In this case, she will be charged with first degree felony child kidnapping and second degree felony vehicle theft.
