MAGNA -- The Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office is searching for 20-year-old Melissa Sue Irish. They believe she stole a car with 3-year-old Hector Orozco inside around 6:45 Friday night, which resulted in an Amber Alert.

Shortly after the Amber Alert went out, the vehicle and an unharmed Hector were located on Patricia Circle in Magna.

Salt Lake County sheriff's Lt. Don Hutson says witnesses helped detectives identify Irish as a suspect. In fact, he says the boy's mother identified the suspect as someone she may have gone to High school with.

Hutson says Irish has a significant history with the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office, with her most recent arrest being just a week and a half ago. Then, she was arrested on obstruction of justice charges, but other arrest have involved drug charges.

Deputies still don't know a motive, but Hutson thinks it may have simply been a crime of opportunity, where the suspect simply saw the car was unattended.

Irish has still not been found. If you have any information on the whereabouts of this suspect, you are asked to contact the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office at 801-743-7000 and refer to case number 09-26280.
