(KSL News) -- Salt Lake's City council considered arguments tonight over a plan to ban smoking in many outdoor public places.
Mayor Rocky Anderson supports an ordinance that would forbid people to smoke in Salt Lake parks, Library Square and city-owned ball fields.
Council members seemed to welcome the proposal and may extend the ban to public sidewalks and streets. They'll hold a public hearing and vote next week.
