(KSL News) An event aimed at protecting traditional marriage attracted dozens of protesters tonight.
The Sutherland Institute, a conservative Utah policy group, hosted the event. Organizers called it a "stand to protect marriage" between a man and a woman.

"I think it's an opportunity for people who are interested in protecting marriage in Utah to kind of gather together and get some more information and gain an understanding of why marriage is important and worthy and worth protecting," said Jeff Reynolds, director of communications for the Sutherland Institute.
People inside referred to a their "Sacred Ground Initiative," an obvious jab at many protesters outside who support a "Common Ground Initiative" in which gay rights groups have launched an effort to pass five bills at the state Legislature that expand basic rights for the lesbian and gay community.
