KAYSVILLE — Kaysville residents who briefly evacuated because of a new fire start were being allowed to go back to their homes Friday night.

Just 20 minutes after first sharing the evacuation notice to Facebook, the Kaysville Fire Department updated its post to say a fire burning at East Mountain Wilderness Park, near 1625 E. 650 North in Kaysville, was under control.

As of 9:45 p.m., crews remained on scene monitoring hot spots.

The Kaysville Fire Department said Monday that aerial fireworks were banned everywhere in the city. City leaders completely banned fireworks of any kind in some areas of the city, but allowed ground fireworks in others.

Officials have not said how the fire started.
