WASHINGTON, Washington County — A man is dead after a crash between two vehicles in Washington on Wednesday.

Police said they responded to the incident around 12:46 p.m., at the intersection of Rio Virgin Drive and Washington Dam Road, where a vintage Ford Model T and a F-450 pickup truck collided.

Witnesses told police that the Ford Model T was pulling off Rio Virgin Drive onto Washington Dam Road. When they made the turn, instead of going west, the driver attempted a U-turn and entered the eastbound lane of travel. That's when the pickup towing an approximate 15-foot flatbed trailer entered the intersection, according to a press release from the department.

The two vehicles collided in a "head-on, sideswipe manner" near their front driver-side fenders, police said.

"The impact caused the driver of the vintage Ford Model T to be ejected from the vehicle and the car spun 180 degrees before coming to a rest," the release reads.

Despite life-saving efforts, the man, who was not identified, died at the scene due to his injuries, police said. The pickup truck continued for a short distance before it came to a full stop.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, but police said that at this time, they don't suspect impairment as a factor for either driver.
