SALT LAKE CITY — One person was hospitalized in serious condition following an early morning apartment fire Sunday in Salt Lake City.

Crews were dispatched at 2:52 a.m. to an apartment building at 181 E. 1st Ave. About 50 emergency personnel responded after additional crews were called to assist, according to the Salt Lake City Fire Department.

Fire officials said one resident was taken to a hospital in serious condition. No additional injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and officials were assessing the damages.
