KEARNS — Two teens have been arrested and accused of shooting a third teenager at a Kearns park Sunday in what police are calling a gang-related incident.

Just before 4 p.m., Unified police were called to David Gourley Park, 4260 W. 5015 South.

"Initial information indicated that a physical altercation had occurred at the park prior to the shots being fired. Unified police officers and fire personnel responded to the scene and rendered aid to one individual, who was transported to a local hospital in serious condition," according to a prepared statement from police.

Detectives from the department's Violent Crimes Unit and the Metro Gang Unit were able to quickly identify two teens believed to be responsible for the shooting. Both were arrested either late Sunday or early Monday and booked into the Salt Lake Juvenile Detention for investigation of multiple charges.

All the teens involved are 15 and 16, according to police. Police have not said if they are male or female.

"Investigators have determined this was an isolated, gang-related incident. This case represents a quick resolution to a dangerous crime impacting the community," police said.

At last word, police say the teen who was shot is "stable."
