PROVO — A former Springville swim coach is not contesting that she inappropriately touched two people, one of whom was younger than 14, without consent.
Charging documents said there were multiple allegations of sexual assault against the coach from former swimmers and a coach, some saying that she touched them in the crotch area as part of an initiation ritual or to "establish dominance."
Jordan Shea Fassett Meyer, 33, pleaded no contest on Jan. 8 to object rape, a third-degree felony, and sexual battery, a class B misdemeanor, on Jan. 8 as part of a plea in abeyance. When speaking with investigators, she denied the allegations but said similar things happened to her multiple times while playing water polo.
Her plea-in-abeyance term is 36 months. During that time, in addition to not violating the law, she was ordered to complete a psychosexual evaluation and any recommended treatment. She is also ordered to register as a sex offender during those 36 months.
After the plea in abeyance term, if she has completed all of the conditions, the forcible sexual abuse charge will be entered as a reduced conviction for sexual battery, a class A misdemeanor.
As part of her plea deal, a charge of sexual battery, a class A misdemeanor, in a separate case was dismissed.
She served as the head girls' swim coach at Springville High School beginning in September 2021, and was then hired as the head boys' swim coach at Maple Mountain High School in September 2022, according to the Nebo School District. She has also coached programs at the Clyde Recreation Center.
Nebo School District stated that she was terminated after they learned of her arrest in February 2024.
