BLUFFDALE — A man who was allegedly caught hiding inside a young girl's bedroom for 10 days has been arrested for investigation of rape.
Police were called to a home in Bluffdale on Sept. 8 on report of a trespassing. Officers were told a 12-year-old girl had "secretly allowed" an 18-year-old man into the home.
The man was identified as Ryker Xethanial Buxton and had been hiding inside the girl's room for 10 days, a police booking affidavit states.
Buxton was removed from the premises by police, but a week later, the child's parents reported she ran away from home and they suspected it was with Buxton, the affidavit states.
Buxton and the girl were located in Provo on Tuesday, police said. The girl admitted in a forensic interview that she was with Buxton while she was missing but did not disclose any sexual abuse, police said.
During a police interview, Buxton said he had engaged in multiple sexual acts with the girl while he was hidden in her bedroom, according to the affidavit.
"Ryker stated the child was legally 12 but has the body of a 25-year-old. Ryker stated that he loved her. Ryker stated that he and the child discussed having a child together," the police booking affidavit says.
Buxton was booked into Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of rape of a child, three counts of sodomy on a child, two counts of object rape of a child, unlawful kissing of a child, criminal trespassing and burglary.
Police requested he be held with no bail as Buxton is "currently homeless" and had stated he and the girl were planning to leave the state together.
