SALT LAKE CITY — Details about the public memorial service to be held for activist and author Charlie Kirk were announced on Saturday.
On X, Kirk's non-profit organization Turning Point USA posted that a service will be held on Sept. 21, 2025, at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
Brief Kirk timeline
Kirk, a popular political activist, was fatally shot on Wednesday at a "Prove Me Wrong" event held that afternoon on the campus of Utah Valley University. After a single gunshot was fired from a nearby rooftop, Kirk was rushed to Timpanogos Regional Hospital. He was later pronounced dead.
Officials questioned and released two people before the suspected shooter, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, was taken into custody around 10 p.m. on Sept. 11. He was booked into Utah County Jail on suspicion of aggravated murder, felony discharge of a weapon causing serious bodily injury and obstruction of justice.
The Associated Press reports that all of the potential charges are state felony charges and that the aggravated murder charge carries the possibility of the death penalty in Utah.
Robinson was a student at Dixie Technical College in St. George, according to the Utah Board of Higher Education. A check of public records found he lived with his family in Washington City.
KSL-TV has reported he had no adult or juvenile criminal history.
Formal charges could be filed as early as Tuesday.
