OGDEN — An Ogden man faces seven counts of felony discharge of a weapon for allegedly firing some sort of firearm toward a group of people during an incident over the weekend.

The shooting occurred during the early morning hours of Saturday at an apartment complex in Ogden, according to charging documents filed Monday. Ralfo Guajardo Jr., 22, was charged Tuesday in 2nd District Court with possession of a firearm by a restricted person, a second-degree felony;seven counts of felony discharge of a weapon and obstruction of justice, third-degree felonies.

What exactly transpired isn't spelled out in court documents.

"There were 911 calls reporting shots fired and a large crowd. When officers arrived, they found a large crowd and multiple witnesses reporting that they were fired upon by one male suspect," the charges state. Authorities later discovered that multiple rounds fired in the incident had struck the outside wall of an apartment unit that was occupied.

Once police found Guajardo, he "confessed to firing around five rounds toward a group of people as they ran away from him," the charges allege. He had previously been convicted of assault by a prisoner, factoring in the charge of possession of a firearm by a restricted person.

"Ralfo confessed that when he gets high, he has psychosis and hears voices. Ralfo admitted to being high during the incident in question," the charging documents state. He is being held in the Weber County Jail.
