ST. GEORGE — A mother in Enoch wrote a children's book inspired by her daughter with Down syndrome, aiming to inspire kindness, acceptance and understanding in readers of all ages.
"I wanted to show people how I see her," Brittney Orton, author of the children's book "Through My Eyes," said. "All the things I see every day. And if people could see her the way I see her, it would change their lives."
The illustrated book "Through My Eyes" emphasizes the importance of acceptance and empathy. Told from Orton's perspective, it encourages others to see her daughter with Down syndrome, Kloe Orton, through kindness and compassion. The story features a bright, cheerful girl and aims to inspire young readers to recognize differences and appreciate what makes each person unique.
Brittney Orton told St. George News she hopes readers will take the time to connect with people who may seem different. She feels grateful for the opportunity to represent those who may not have a voice, as well as the many parents raising children with disabilities.
