MODENA, Iron County — A man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on state Route 56 near Modena in western Iron County early Thursday, authorities said.
The driver who died was identified as 22-year-old Tristin Vandall, according to an Iron County Sheriff's Office statement.
The incident occurred about 2:43 a.m. on S.R. 56, Iron County Sheriff's Cpl. Cree Carter wrote in the news release.
The initial call for assistance was for a brush fire in the area, Carter noted.
"While en route, an additional call for a vehicle crash came in at the same area," Carter wrote, adding that responding deputies arrived to find the car crash had started the fire.
