SARATOGA SPRINGS — Rep. Burgess Owens has introduced a bill to use federal land to create a Saratoga Springs post office.

The Saratoga Springs Post Office Act, proposed on Pioneer Day, will transfer 20 acres of unused federal land to the U.S. Postal Service to build a new post office that is operational within two years.

"Utahns in Saratoga Springs, Eagle Mountain and Lehi have been forced to rely on a single, overcrowded post office, which is unacceptable for one of the fastest-growing regions in the country," Owens said. "Since 2021, I've been fighting to fix it, listening to constituents impacted and bringing these issues to the highest levels of government."

The legislation is a "common sense solution" that will "deliver faster service, shorter lines, and the modern infrastructure our communities deserve," Owens said.

Saratoga Springs Mayor Jim Miller thanked Owens for the legislation, saying it addresses a "long-standing need in our community."

"Once enacted, the bill will bring essential postal services to Saratoga Springs and our neighboring communities, supporting the needs of our growing population," Miller said.

Eagle Mountain Mayor Tom Westmoreland called the proposed new office a "step in the right direction for our growing region."

Lehi Mayor Mark Johnson said it gives timely access to critical services for residents who were in "desperate need" of an additional post office.

The 20.32 acres of Bureau of Land Management land that's part of the proposal is located west of Mountain View Corridor and north of state Route 73, with access off of Wild Blossom Boulevard.
