SALT LAKE CITY — One person has died after an Orem home caught fire Friday morning.

About 10:29 a.m., Battalion Assistant Chief Shaun Hirst with the Orem Fire Department said firefighters arrived at a house fire at 1925 S. Terrace Drive.

When crews arrived, Hirst said two people had exited the home, but one person was still inside. Fire crews, with the help of police, rescued the person through an exterior window.

The man was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries, including smoke inhalation.

The Orem Fire Department told KSL-TV he has since died.

Nobody else was inside the home at the time of the fire, according to Hirst.

There was extensive damage throughout the home, displacing the family, Hirst said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
