SALT LAKE CITY — There are now seven reported cases of measles across Utah after state health officials reported two new cases on Friday.

According to the Utah Department of Health and Human Services, the two new cases involve individuals who are unvaccinated. One of the new cases is linked to people who've already been diagnosed with measles, according to health officials.

"Public health investigations are ongoing to identify any locations where possible exposures may have occurred," health officials said in a statement.

On Thursday, state officials also reported two new cases of measles and said those individuals were also unvaccinated.

If you have been exposed to measles, the symptoms can appear between seven and 14 days after the initial exposure. A high fever, over 102.2°F or 39°C, is one of the hallmark symptoms.

Other symptoms include:

  • Cough
  • Red, irritated eyes
  • Runny hose
  • Rash (appears four days after the fever begins)

Staying home is the best thing someone can do if they develop symptoms, according to Utah health officials.
