SALT LAKE CITY — A fourth person has been arrested in connection with a gang-related shooting in which more than 20 shots were fired in a Salt Lake neighborhood.

Bryan Jimenez Benitez, 22; Gerardo Bejar Reynoso, 22; and Jose Eduardo Romero Bojorquez, 22, were each booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on June 13 for investigation of two counts of aggravated assault, 24 counts of illegally firing a gun and rioting. Benitez was also booked on suspicion of two counts of drug possession.

Wednesday, Salt Lake police arrested Bryan Alexis Olvera Alvarez, 18, for investigation of 26 counts of illegally shooting a gun, causing a riot, drug distribution and being a restricted person in possession of a gun.

"Detectives believe the shooting was motivated by an ongoing conflict between rival gangs," police said Thursday. "When rival gang associates arrived in two separate vehicles, several people ran toward them. As the vehicles drove off, multiple rounds were fired."

No one was injured in the incident near 1800 W. Shannon Circle, but police say several vehicles parked in the area were hit.

Police say they also have "received credible information suggesting continued threats between those involved, and additional investigative steps are ongoing to prevent further violence."
