ROY — The Roy Police Department has confirmed that four of its officers are on administrative leave pending an investigation into an alleged sexual assault.

On Monday, the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office issued a brief statement that deputies responded to a "medical emergency" at Snowbird on May 14.

"The incident is now being investigated as a sexual assault. To maintain the integrity of the ongoing investigation, no additional information will be released at this time," the sheriff's office stated.

Tuesday, both Roy police and the sheriff's office confirmed that the investigation involved officers from the Roy Police Department.

"Our officers and the agency are cooperating with the investigation," Roy Police Sgt. Josh Taylor said. "Once the investigation is concluded, if it's determined that there was any violation of policy or statute, that's something we take very seriously and they would be held accountable."

No other information was immediately available.
