RIVERDALE, Weber County — Police have identified a woman killed Thursday in a stabbing in Weber County.
About 2:30 p.m., the Weber County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call about a possible assault at Greenhill Apartments, 4189 S. 300 West.
When officers arrived, a witness told them a man had stabbed a woman inside the apartment. The apartment door was locked, "prompting officers to force entry," and they found a woman who had sustained "multiple stab wounds," police said in a news release late Thursday.
Emergency medical aid was administered, but the woman died from her injuries. She was identified Friday night as Stacey Nicole Scott, 33.
The suspect "had fled the apartment through a window," police said. According to a probable cause affidavit, responding officers located an ID belonging to the suspect near the woman's body. He was later apprehended on Riverdale Road, where police temporarily shut down traffic.
Scott Myers, 39, was arrested for investigation of murder, domestic violence assault, aggravated assault, avoiding apprehension, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person.
The affidavit says the primary witness in the case was with the victim, and they traveled together to Myers' apartment in Riverdale.
While at the apartment, the witness reported hearing commotion and when they looked over, saw Myers on top of the victim stabbing her with a knife, police said.
This led the witness to yell at Myers and advance on him to intervene, according to the affidavit, which resulted in Myers' "swiping" at the victim with a knife and advancing on him while holding the knife.
At this point, the witness fled the apartment to retrieve a baseball bat from his vehicle, police said. When he returned to the apartment, the witness reported Myers was standing in the doorway to the apartment before closing the door and locking it.
The affidavit also said the victim revealed he believed Myers and the victim were previously in a relationship.
Police have not specified a possible motive or confirmed the relationship between the man and woman.
