ST. GEORGE — A 9-year-old boy who was hospitalized after being run over by a golf cart has died from his injuries.
Steven Yu was riding an assisted scooter at the intersection of 2780 East and Flycatcher Drive on May 4. He pulled out in front of a golf cart driven by a 12-year-old girl and was struck and run over, St. George police said.
Steven sustained life-threatening injuries and was flown to a Las Vegas hospital in critical condition.
"Despite the tireless efforts of his medical team and the love pouring in from friends and neighbors, Steven's injuries were too severe, and he passed away surrounded by family and prayers," a GoFundMe* account for his family states.
The family is facing significant medical expenses as they prepare for Steven's funeral, according to the fundraiser.
"Steven was a bright, joyful boy who could light up a room with his smile. He was always playing with his little sister and other kids in the neighborhood," the fundraiser said.
