COLORADO CITY, Arizona — A man was killed in a shooting near the Utah-Arizona border early Thursday.

Police responded to Lauritzen Street in Colorado City just before 1:30 a.m. on a report of a shooting. Officers located a man who had been shot multiple times and administered medical aid, police said, but the man was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspected gunman's vehicle was located at a residence in Hildale, in Washington County, according to a release from the Colorado City/Hildale City Police Department. Police searched the residence and took the suspected shooter into custody.

Information on how police determined the identity of the suspected shooter was not given.

The names of the suspected gunman and the man who died were not released Thursday. Police said there is no threat to the public and the investigation is ongoing.
