RIVERTON — Criminal charges were filed Thursday against a Riverton man accused of receiving explicit pictures of young girls from their mother and of voyeurism at a fitness center in a separate case.
Justan Grover, 36, is charged in 3rd District Court with 10 counts of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, a first-degree felony; and voyeurism, a class A misdemeanor.
On Feb. 4, a 17-year-old girl was using the tanning bed at VASA Fitness, 1777 W. 12600 South in Riverton. Shortly after undressing, she observed a black phone in the tanning bed stall between the floor and the wall. The camera of the phone was facing up toward her, according to investigators.
The teen screamed, and the phone disappeared. A short time later, however, the phone reappeared, and the girl yelled again, charging documents state.
Using surveillance video and the gym's membership records, Grover was identified as a suspect. When detectives questioned Grover, they seized his phone and served a search warrant on it.
While looking for evidence of voyeurism at the fitness center, police found additional concerning messages in which Grover "displays an infatuation" with another woman's children, according to charging documents.
"There were numerous messages in which (Grover) asked for pictures (of her children)," the charges state. "In the messages, it was clear that there was an exchange of services for nude photographs."
In one text message exchange with the woman, the woman states, "I'm getting angry … all you care about is seeing my kids naked … I am sick of it," the charges state.
The 40-year-old woman was arrested for investigation of two counts of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor. Formal charges had not been filed against her as of Thursday. KSL.com is not naming the mother at this time to protect the identity of her children.
