RIVERTON — A Riverton man arrested last week during a child abuse investigation is now accused of abusing additional family members.

Trever Ford, 41, was charged Wednesday in 3rd District Court with 17 counts of aggravated child abuse, a second-degree felony; five counts of voyeurism, one third-degree felony and four class A misdemeanors; and two counts of child abuse, a class A misdemeanor.

On Feb. 4, a 16-month-old boy was taken to Primary Children's Hospital and was determined to have "multiple fractures in various stages of healing," including broken ribs and fractured bones in his arm, according to a police booking affidavit.

"The defendant in this matter was supposed to be a guardian, parent and protective person to (the boy). Instead, he broke at least 16 bones in the victim's body over the three months he was in his care and custody. During the investigation, it was determined that the defendant acted as the primary provider for the victim, as his wife and children were at school and work during the day," charging documents state.

The boy is Ford's nephew who has lived with the family since September.

As police continued to investigate Ford after his arrest, they learned of additional abuse committed against other children in the house, according to the charges.

"(One child) said Ford wears a 'large CTR ring on his right hand and the ring would hurt a lot when his dad would smack him.' (He) said Ford has 'smacked' his siblings in the back of the head 'hard.' Ford also told them to 'shut up and stop crying,'" the charges allege. "The victim reported that (Ford) emotionally and physically abused him from the age of approximately 8 or 9 years old. The victim said the defendant had struck him multiple times and threatened to punch him and the baby."

As part of the investigation, police also went through Ford's phone and found pictures of a woman that appeared to be taken without her knowledge that were later posted on a pornography website, according to charging documents.
