MILLCREEK — The body of an 18-year-old man shot multiple times was found in a vehicle in the parking lot at the Mount Olympus trailhead over the weekend.

Naod Welday, of Millcreek, was shot multiple times and his body was discovered after others in the parking lot heard gunshots about 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office stated Monday.

Investigators aren't sure if Welday was preparing to go hiking or if he was in the parking lot for another reason. As of Monday, no arrests had been made.

"We are committed to finding those responsible for this senseless act of violence. Our detectives are working tirelessly to gather evidence and follow up on leads," Salt Lake County Sheriff Rosie Rivera said in a prepared statement.

No other details about the fatal shooting were immediately available.

Anyone with information can call the sheriff's office at 801-840-4000.
