VEYO, Washington County — One person was airlifted in serious condition after a multivehicle crash in Washington County.

Three vehicles were involved in a crash just south of Veyo around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. A southbound pickup truck on state Route 18 rear-ended a Mercedes van that had slowed down for workers on the side of the road, Utah Highway Patrol said.

After the initial collision, the truck went into oncoming northbound lanes and hit a pickup pulling a trailer. The driver of the truck pulling the trailer had to be extricated and was flown by medical helicopter to a hospital.

The driver of the southbound truck was transported by ambulance with injuries not considered life-threatening, UHP said.
