SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Hockey Club will have a defenseman next season.
The new NHL team announced Friday it has re-signed Michael Kesselring to a two-year contract. The deal is reportedly worth $1.4 million.
"We are very pleased to have Michael as part of our club," Utah general manager Bill Armstrong said. "He skates well, moves the puck effectively, and has a strong shot that can provide offense from the blueline. We look forward to having Michael in Utah for years to come."
Kesselring, 24, recorded five goals and 16 assists in 65 games last season for the Arizona Coyotes. He now represents the first defenseman under contract for next season. However, that should change in relatively quick order.
Armstrong said the team also expects to sign restricted free agents JJ Moser, Sean Durzi and Juuso Välimäki.
Kesselring has apperared in 74 NHL games, and played on Team USA at the 2024 World Championship in Czechia, finishing with two goals and an assist in seven games.
