CEDAR CITY – A 23-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy were arrested after police say they raced each other at speeds of up to 120 mph on I-15 in Iron County late Sunday.
According to a police affidavit filed in support of the adult driver's arrest, shortly after 11 p.m., a Utah Highway Patrol observed both vehicles pass his stationary patrol vehicle "at an extremely high rate of speed."
"I pulled out of the median and started to follow the vehicles," the trooper wrote in the affidavit. "I found that both vehicles had slowed to approximately 95 mph."
The trooper noted that as he began to catch up to the cars, he noticed that they appeared to be racing each other, taking turns catching and passing the other. At one point, he reportedly measured them going 120 mph.
