MOUNT CARMEL JUNCTION, Kane County — A 77-year-old man on a trike motorcycle crashed into the guardrail while traveling north on U.S. 89 several miles south of Mount Carmel Junction on Monday, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

UHP Lt. Cam Roden said the man suffered serious injuries, including broken bones and "internal injuries."

While doing traffic control at the scene, a deputy's vehicle was struck by a passing RV, which caused "very, very minor" damage, Roden said. The deputy was not in the vehicle at the time and was not injured.
