SALT LAKE CITY —Salt Lake police are investigating the shooting death of a 30-year-old man Sunday.

About 4:03 a.m., police responded to several calls of a shooting near 1800 West Fortune Road. When officers arrived, they found a 30-year-old man who had been shot and had died at the scene, according to a statement from the Salt Lake City Police Department.

The man was identified Sunday afternoon as Nico Christopher Patino.

Homicide detectives believe that "many witnesses left the scene before officers arrived," the statement says.

Patino's death is the fifth homicide in Salt Lake City for 2024. No arrests have been made, but police stated that there does not appear to be an imminent danger to the community.
