MILLCREEK — An investigation into a kidnapped teenager led to a fatal police shooting in Millcreek on Monday, Unified police confirmed.
But very few details had been released as of Tuesday afternoon.
Officers first responded "to a reported kidnapping and hostage situation" involving a 15-year-old victim in the area of 3500 South and 2300 East just after 10 p.m. Monday.
"Upon arrival, officers entered the residence, where they encountered a suspect with a firearm. During this incident a shot was fired by police resulting in the suspect's death," police said.
The department initially released a statement at 2 a.m. Tuesday indicating that an officer-involved critical incident had taken place, but did not indicate it was a police shooting. West Valley police will investigate the shooting death.
No other information has been released.
