SANDY — A woman is facing criminal charges accusing her of stealing her roommate's urn that contained the ashes of her son.

Tianna Grace Talbot, 22, of Redmond, Sevier County, was charged in 3rd District Court on Monday with abuse or desecration of a body, a third-degree felony, and theft, a class A misdemeanor.

On Feb. 15, 2023, Sandy police received a report from a woman that her roommate, Talbot, "had stolen an urn containing the ashes of her son and two necklaces," according to charging documents.

Detectives recovered surveillance video that appeared to show Talbot "picking up the urn and placing it in her jacket," the charges allege.

The urn was later recovered by the Sevier County Sheriff's Office. Court documents do not give a possible motive for the alleged crime.
