PROVO — A Lehi man has been arrested and accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl.

Jonathan Estuardo Ruano Garcia, 26, was arrested Monday for investigation of rape of a child, enticing a minor and forgery.

The investigation began Sunday when Provo police were called to an apartment complex on a report of an 11-year-old girl who had been sexually assaulted. The girl's mother arrived home about 11:15 p.m. "and as she approached her front door, observed an adult male leaving her apartment," a police booking affidavit states.

Knowing that her daughter was home alone, the mother hurried inside and found her "completely naked in the hallway of the apartment. The mother asked the victim what happened. The 11-year-old girl told her mother that a male she met on the internet came to the apartment and had sex with her," the affidavit states.

The girl admitted that she had engaged in sexual conversations with the man on social media and gave him her address so he could come over.

Police looked at the girl's Instagram account and her conversations with the man and identified him as Ruano Garcia. Investigators then located him and he admitted to believing the girl was 13 or 14 years old but still going to her home, according to the affidavit. Ruano Garcia claimed he met the girl at a soccer game where the girl was watching and they exchanged information and began chatting on social media.

"Ruano Garcia admitted that the chats he had with the victim turned sexual," the affidavit states.

While being booked into the Utah County Jail, police found a Social Security card in his wallet that "did not appear to be authentic. When asked about the Social Security card, Ruano Garcia admitted that it was fake and that he paid money for it when he came to the United States."
