1A, 2A wrestling: Millard rolls to 3-peat title; Panguitch wins 5th straight

RICHFIELD — Millard entered the 2A boys wrestling tournament as the team to beat — and left in the same condition.

The Eagles won seven of their 10 championship bouts to cruise to the program's third state title in as many years and 21st overall Saturday afternoon at the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield.

Kolter Kelly (120), Dak Eldredge (126), Sam Rasmussen (144), Morgan Tingey (165), Kaden Turner (175), Emilio Jackson (190) and Scoot DeHerrera (285) each secured an individual title for the Eagles, who piled up 331.5 points to second-place Beaver's 262.

San Juan, North Sevier and Kanab rounded out the top five in the 2A boys tournament.

Trexden Olsen (106), Jex Bradshaw (132), Tavyn Hollingshead (15) and Kutlur Matheson (215) each won an individual title for the Beavers.

1A Boys

Shad Partridge (132), Braxton Atkin (144), Cameron Atkin (144), Jacob Marshall (157), Maverick Albrecht (190) and Gage Julander (215) each secured an individual state title to help Panguitch pull away for the 1A state title.

Milford led by fewer than 10 points as the individual championship bouts started, but the Bobcats' final push stretched their title streak to five in a row, 199-187.

Boston Thompson (113) and Morgan Finicum (190) each won an individual title for Milford, which was followed by Altamont, Monticello and Piute in the top five.

1A, but 2A Girls

Breann Ivie (110), Andrea Chavez (170) and Abby Woods (190) each won an individual state title as Duchesne pulled away for the first girls wrestling state championship in school history Saturday night at the Sevier Valley Center.

Rich finished second in the first year of the 1A/2A classification, a change from three classifications the first year the sport was sanctioned in 2021 and four classifications in 2022 and 2023.

Enterprise, American Leadership Academy and North Sevier rounded out the top five.
