Southern Utah man charged with hitting man with his car after argument

MILFORD, Beaver County — Criminal charges were filed Thursday against a Beaver County man accused of using his vehicle to intentionally hit another person.

Jason Fred Quintana, 53, of Milford, was charged in 5th District Court with attempted murder, a first-degree felony; aggravated assault with serious injury, a second-degree felony; failing to stop for an accident with injury, a third-degree felony; not having a valid license or car insurance, class C misdemeanors; and failing to file an accident report, an infraction.

On Monday, sheriff's deputies responded to the 200 block of Main Street in Milford where a man claimed he had been hit by a car driven by Quintana.

"(The) victim had visible injuries to his head and knees," according to a police booking affidavit.

Investigators found surveillance video from a nearby business that showed Quintana and the victim "exchange words" prior to the incident, the affidavit states. Deputies then searched the area and "located car debris silver in color, passenger side mirror, plastic debris, victim's shoe and blood."

On Tuesday, Quintana called 911 and "confessed to hitting victim with his car the previous night," the affidavit alleges. "Jason Quintana knowingly hit an individual with his vehicle, Jason did not even attempt to report the accident or render aid to individual."
