IVINS, Washington County — A man was hit and killed by a car on a Washington County highway after his own vehicle rolled several times, police say.
Washington County Sheriff's Office responded to a rollover accident on Old Highway 91 near Bulldog Pass Road, about 20 miles southwest of Ivins, around 10 p.m. Wednesday.
When deputies arrived on the scene, the driver of the car that rolled was "acting out of sorts" and ran into the roadway and kneeled down, Sgt. Lucas Alfred said.
Alfred said a second vehicle heading south hit the man in the roadway and he died on scene. His identity has not been released.
The driver of the second vehicle stopped down the road, called police and said he hit something but didn't know what it was because it was dark out, Alfred said. The male driver and female passenger in the second vehicle cooperated with the police as accident reconstruction teams investigated.
Alfred said emergency crews were on scene until 5 a.m. Thursday and the cause of the initial rollover and details of the accident are still being determined.
