BRIGHAM CITY — A Perry, Box Elder County, man was sentenced to two terms of five years to life in prison Monday after pleading guilty to distributing videos and images of children being sexually abused.

Zon Steven Delaurier Knudsen, 41, was already on probation for a previous conviction of attempted forcible sexual abuse against the 14-year-old daughter of a family friend.

A Logan police detective used investigative software to download several dozen photos and videos depicting the sexual abuse of children directly from an IP address in Perry. Local law enforcement showed up to Knudsen's home and confiscated his laptop and phone. Knudsen admitted to seeing sexual material in files he downloaded "a long time ago," according to a police booking affidavit. His devices were then searched.

Investigators found "over 10 photos or videos which depicted children being raped and sexually abused by adults or children nude in sexual poses," court documents say. Knudsen was charged with 10 counts of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, a first degree felony, and 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second degree felony.

Knudsen pleaded guilty in November to two counts of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, a first-degree felony, as part of a plea deal. In exchange, the other 18 charges were dismissed.

Monday, 1st District Judge Brandon Maynard sentenced Knudsen to two terms of five years to life in prison and ordered them to be served consecutively.

Maynard then revoked and terminated Knudsen's probation on a case where police say he sexually abused a 14-year-old after becoming intoxicated. He pleaded guilty to attempted forcible sexual abuse, a third-degree felony, and will serve a term of zero to five years in the Utah State Prison concurrent with the new sentence.
