LAYTON — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced dates for the dedication and open house of the Layton Utah Temple on Monday.
It will be dedicated on June 16, 2024, in two sessions which will be presided over by Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. These sessions will be available live to congregations within the Layton temple's district.
Prior to the dedication, anyone will be able to tour the temple between April 19, 2024, and June 1, 2024.
The Layton temple was announced by President Russell M. Nelson, president of the church, in April 2018, along with six other temples.
"Eventual exaltation requires our complete fidelity now to covenants we make and ordinances we receive in the house of the Lord," he told members in that talk.
President Nelson counseled members at that time to set aside other things to spend more time in the temple.
Construction on the temple began on May 23, 2020.
The Layton temple is one of 28 temples in Utah — including those that are announced, under construction or operating.
The Orem Utah Temple open house ends on Saturday and the St. George Utah Temple was rededicated on Sunday after significant renovations.
