GRANTSVILLE — A 12-year-old boy was killed in a crash Monday night when his dirt bike collided with a car.

The Utah Highway Patrol said at about 5:45 p.m., a Mercedes was heading west on state Route 138 in Grantsville and turned south onto Sun Valley Drive. A 12-year-old boy on a dirt bike was approaching the same intersection and T-boned the passenger side of the Mercedes, Sgt. Cameron Roden said.

The boy sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. There were no injuries to the occupants of the Mercedes.

State Route 138 was closed in both directions for several hours but reopened around 9 p.m. Roden said it was reported the dirt bike did not have lights, but the investigation isn't complete.
