ELWOOD, Box Elder County — An 88-year-old driver died in a bizarre crash involving a deer in northern Utah Saturday evening.
About 7 p.m., emergency crews responded to a report of a crash on state Route 13 near 9700 North.
Utah Highway Patrol Cpl. Quincy Breuer said one vehicle was traveling south on the highway when a deer jumped out in front. The driver of the vehicle was unable to avoid the deer and struck it, causing it to fly into the path of a gray sedan traveling in the other direction.
The deer flew through the windshield of the sedan traveling in the northbound lane, causing fatal injuries to the 88-year-old driver, Breuer said.
UHP did not immediately release the identification of the person who died. No other injuries were reported.
The crash remains under investigation.
