ST. GEORGE — A pedestrian in St. George was killed Friday night by a car on the same street where a woman was killed Wednesday.
About 9 p.m., St. George police responded to reports that a man had been struck by a pickup truck at 500 N. Bluff. Witnesses reported that the man had been crossing Bluff Street in the marked crosswalk with the walk signal when the pickup truck failed to stop for the red light, hitting the man.
The driver, identified as Brianna Waters, remained on scene and cooperated with police. Police noted indications of impairment and initial tests showed the driver was under the influence of cocaine, according to police. Waters was arrested and booked into Purgatory Correctional Facility on suspicion of a DUI with two or more priors in the last 10 years, failure to obey a traffic signal, failure to yield to a pedestrian right of way, possession of paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.
A woman was killed in the same area and around the same time Wednesday night. The pedestrian who died Friday was identified as the brother of the woman who had been killed Wednesday.
"We offer our condolences to the families affected by these tragic incidents," wrote St. George Police in a Facebook post.
Both cases are still under investigation
