SALT LAKE CITY — A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Friday evening in Salt Lake City, police said.
The pedestrian was walking near the intersection at South Redwood Road at the I-80 overpass in the area of 200 South just before 8:30 p.m. Friday when she was hit by a car, Salt Lake City police said.
Officers found the woman dead in a northbound lane at the scene when they arrived. Police had not yet determined the woman's identity late Friday.
Witnesses told police the woman was hit when she was crossing Redwood Road and the car that hit her continued north.
Northbound Redwood Road was closed from 400 South and North Temple while officers investigated.
Police late Friday were trying to determine what type of car was involved in the crash as they attempted to find the driver. Police said there may be significant damage to the car from the crash, and they are urging anyone with information to call 911 "immediately."
