SARATOGA SPRINGS — A cyclist was killed after being hit by a semitruck on Redwood Road on Tuesday morning, according to police.

The cyclist was struck while riding north on Redwood Road near Harbor Park Way. Police did not provide more details about the collision, but said an investigation is ongoing and the driver of the truck has been cooperative.

Police said the victim was a 64-year-old woman. The victim's family identified her as Marie Reynolds on a GoFundMe page.*

"This comes as such a shock and we are devastated. She was so passionate about life and helping those in need," the site states. "She lived that way every day through being a nurse for many years, donating her time to church and helping the community and her family. She is sorely missed."

Stephen Reynolds told KSL-TV his mother was an avid cyclist, riding about 20 miles a day. The family is urging drivers to be more aware of bicyclists and for the city to make the area safer for pedestrians.

Marie Reynolds leaves behind a husband of 45 years, eight children and 23 grandchildren.
