DRAPER — A motorcyclist was killed in a crash early Tuesday after fleeing from officers earlier in the night, police said.
The motorcyclist was seen by several different agencies and was pursued by officers in the Lehi and Bluffdale areas around midnight, but officers ultimately abandoned the pursuit, Draper Police Sgt. Justin Simons said.
A Draper officer later found the motorcyclist dead around 1:20 a.m. following a crash near 14000 S. Minuteman Drive, Simons said.
No other vehicles were involved and there were no other riders on the motorcycle. Police believe the motorcyclist had unsuccessfully tried to navigate a curve and crashed.
High speeds are a suspected factor in the crash, which is still under investigation.
Police have not identified the motorcyclist, pending notification of family members.
