MILLCREEK — One man was shot multiple times and the alleged gunman was injured in a fight at a Millcreek house early Thursday morning.

Unified police were called to a a residence on Red Maple Road in Millcreek about 4 a.m., where they found a man who had been shot three times. A police booking affidavit says a witness to the shooting identified the gunman as Kene Onochie, 42, and told police he had already fled the scene.

The shooting victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition and released an hour later, police said.

The affidavit says Onochie and the man who was shot know each other and were at a bar together Wednesday night. At some point, the victim left the bar and went to the Millcreek residence, which was owned by the witness.

The witness told police he and the victim were standing in the driveway when Onochie pulled up in a vehicle and got out with a pistol in his hand. Onochie went straight toward the victim, chased him into the residence and shot him three times, the affidavit says.

The victim and Onochie then went back in the front yard and started fighting, according to the witness. He said Onochie was injured during the fight then fled the scene as officers arrived.

Onochie's car was stopped several blocks north of the incident and he was arrested. Onochie complained of chest pain during the arrest and was taken to the hospital where he was treated for broken ribs, police said.

According to the affidavit, Onochie had a holster on him at the time of the arrest and his gun was found in the front yard where the altercation occurred. Two bullet casings were found in the house and a bullet that traveled through a wall and into a kitchen cabinet was located, the document says. Police said a second gun was found in the glovebox of Onochie's car

The affidavit says Onochie specifically targeted the victim over a dispute involving a female.

After receiving treatment for his injuries, Onochie was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail Thursday for investigation of three counts of felony discharge of a firearm, aggravated burglary and aggravated assault.
