SALT LAKE CITY — A Clearfield man already charged with engaging in sexual activity with a 14-year-old girl is facing a new charge accusing him of trying to meet up with another teen online while out on bail.
Brian Follett, 38, was charged Wednesday in 3rd District Court with enticing a minor, a second-degree felony.
On July 12, an agent with the State Bureau of Investigation working an undercover operation with the FBI Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking task force, reported being contacted online by Follett while the agent was posing as a 13-year-old girl. Follett told the undercover agent that he would send an Uber to pick "her" up at her residence and then take her to a hotel room in Richfield, according to charging documents.
"In this case, (Follett) asked the victim, who he believed to be a 13-year-old female, if he could send an Uber to transport her to his residence. The defendant continuously told the victim that he wanted to have sex with her and sent her explicit messages," the charges state.
On July 14, while Follett was driving to meet up with the "girl," he crashed while impaired, according to the charges.
On July 25, prosecutors requested that Follett's bail for his other case be revoked.
"In addition to arranging to meet a 13-year-old little girl for sexual intercourse, (he) is driving while extremely drunk to the point that he crashed his car on his way to this encounter. (Follett's) overwhelming desire to engage in sexual intercourse with young children is therefore not just a risk to the children in the community, but to the entire driving public," the motion states.
In his other case, Follett was charged on Jan. 18 in 3rd District Court with unlawful sexual activity with a minor, a third-degree felony. He was charged after meeting a teen girl on the chat site Omegle and then arranging to pick her up using Snapchat, according to charging documents.
After picking up the 14-year-old girl, he provided her with alcohol and engaged in sexual activity, the charges allege. The encounter was discovered when the girl's mother said she found messages between Follett and her daughter and then created her own account posing as a 15-year-old girl and contacted Follett who allegedly claimed he was 30 but was "OK" talking to her.
