MONTICELLO — One person is dead after a head-on collision near Monticello Saturday.

The crash occurred when an SUV drifted across lane lines and collided with a semi-truck approximately 10 miles north of Monticello on U.S. 191, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. The driver of the SUV received fatal injuries.

"Why it drifted across is still being investigated," the UHP said in a statement.

UHP also said both directions of U.S. 191 were closed, but one lane would be opened shortly and they will be alternating traffic.

There is no further information on the age or gender of the victim.
