OGDEN — A car crash occurred on 31st Street at the I-15 on-ramp Saturday. At least one person has died as a result of the accident, according to Ogden police.

At approximately 5:46 p.m., Ogden police responded to a rollover accident in the 700 west block of 31st Street. According to police, a white SUV had been traveling west on 31st street heading toward the light at the I-15 on-ramp. A Honda Pilot was stopped at the light on the east side and went to turn north onto I-15.

The Honda Pilot turned in front of the SUV causing the SUV to roll over. At least one passenger in the SUV was ejected from the vehicle, police said.

Four passengers were reported to be in the Honda Pilot and just one was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Of the five passengers in the SUV, with one was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, three had minor injuries, and one person was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Police said the people taken to the hospital are all expected to recover.

At the scene, crews closed the ramp from westbound 31st Street to northbound I-15, only allowing for eastbound travel. Traffic was diverted onto northbound I-15 from westbound 31st Street and traffic exiting I-15 at 31st Street is only able to go east into Ogden, according to police.

Due to the accident and the ongoing investigation, drivers are advised to avoid the area and plan accordingly. Updates can be found online, at udottraffic.utah.gov.
