(KSL News) The case against a teen mother accused of murdering her 2-year-old son will go to trial.

Adrianna Lucero, 17, appeared in court today for a preliminary hearing.

Utah's chief medical examiner testified about the Aug. 24 death of Lucero's son, Alejandro. She claimed her son went into cardiac arrest and collapsed.

The examiner said Alejandro's back was severely bent causing significant internal damage.

The judge dismissed one count of child abuse and neglect against Lucero, but the murder charge and another count of child abuse and neglect will go forward.

Lucero's next court date is Jan 9.
