MIDVALE — Unified police confirmed Saturday that a man mentioned in a Friday Amber Alert who is suspected of stabbing a woman and kidnapping a child was located in Ogden and arrested.
"We will bring him back to Salt Lake County for an interview. He will be booked into jail later today," a tweet from the Unified Police Department said, referring to 20-year-old Jonathan Moises Wuanloxten Hidalgo.
No other details about the arrest have been released.
Four-year-old Anabella Porto Carrero, 4, of Midvale, was located shortly after the Amber Alert was issued by a woman who got her to police.
Anabella's aunt was watching the child when she asked her ex-boyfriend for a ride. The ex-boyfriend gave her a ride, but at some point stabbed her multiple times, left her in the road and then left with the child, according to police.
On Saturday, the victim remained hospitalized in critical condition, but Salt Lake County Sheriff Rosie Rivera said they are glad she survived.
"It's just a tragic story, you know, our victim is 20-years-old. … She was stabbed multiple times and then thrown out of the car, in front of a 4-year-old," she said.
Rivera said the 4-year-old is doing OK, although she has been through a lot of trauma.
Earlier Saturday, the sheriff asked for the public's help in locating Hidalgo.
"Anytime you have somebody that does such a violent crime it's tough. ... I'm confident we'll find him, but it takes time sometimes," Rivera said.
